On Sunday the Great British tradition of high tech racing was upheld yet again. Two highly skilled modern yachtsmen took on all comers and won. Congratulations Vince and Uncle Steve.

Yeak, I think they were quite pleased. Alana tends to do quite well when it is windy.

Uncle Steve was showing the lash marks on his back in the bar on Thursday. He paid a very high price for crewing Vince to victory that day...... ;D
Well done to Mike on Xanadu, too, another forum regular.

I think Vince and Uncle Steve will need their biggest sails tomorrow. Windguru and XCweather are giving about 8kts for tomorrow afternoon. It might be time to strip everything out of the boat and sail in their underpants to save weight. A scary thought! Good luck both of you, I hope your not drinking too much while celebrating Wales' lucky win today. Allan

I found this video of Vince sailing Alana when both you and Steve were on board Allan. It shows his calm leadership style.

That's brilliant Martin, really made me laugh! I showed it to Vince and it even raised a chuckle from him, no small feat that!

So what happened? Well after a couple of races I joined Martin, Sarah and Tilly on Bright Flyer to contest the race series. We had some success and going into last race we were in the lead. The heros had dropped down the rankings but were still trying. On the Saturday before the fatefull last race the "heros" boat had developed an engine problem. In the spirit of the series they were towed out on Sunday and made the race start. Bright flyer just had stay within two places of our rival and Martin would take his well deserved win. He sailed well and all looked good. As we headed back to the barrage our only worry was that Sequel had got between Bright Flyer and the opposition. As we motored back to the barrage I commented that Alana was being helmed well despite the crew messing up the final gybe. It was only later that we found that, due a very suspect handicap! Alana had beaten Bright Flyer and let a CBYC boat take the series! All I can say is heros no longer! Seriously. well done to Martin, Sarah and all the CYC crews a great race series and watch your back Alana, Chausey is doing the reggatta! Allan
