Avon challenge.

I remember hearing some talk of a challenge for sailing up or down the Avon. As I'm hoping to go to Bristol on Friday I may try to set a benchmark. Are there any rules? I suggest sail only between the M5 and the Clifton bridge.
I will be at the club tonight, if anyone would like to discuss it.

I'll be there Allan. I think there were no particular rules, apart from what you have already said above. I think we said it would be an honesty race timed between the two bridges, evidenced by log book record or photo of log or something like that.

It was something I suggested, not so much a race as just the challenge of doing it, as they would have years ago, without requiring the engine - it's something I intend to achieve this year.

I was thinking more of Cardiff (the Outer Wrach Cardinal) to the Clifton bridge (and/or the other way).

That's not the real Avon Challenge though. The real challenge is getting myself, Louise, Tigger and all our junk from Ishtar to the pontoon at Dale in our Avon inflatable without one of us pulling the bungs out and sinking it. There must be some bluebook points in it for us , surely Huw?

I think Louise certainly deserves more than points for her efforts in carrying You, Tigger and all your junk from Ishtar to the Dale pontoon without You or Tigger sinking the Avon!
