Ishtar went back into the water on Saturday, and we ran the engine for the first time. On Sunday we started running the engine in. Everything seems fine and we are delighted. Rather than bore everyone with the details here, I've written up extensive details on our Blog: www.vbdata.co.uk/Blog/if anyone is interested. If anyone at the club has any questions, please feel free to ask Louise or myself, and anyone interested is welcome to come aboard and have a look at any time. I make no guarantees that we did everything correctly - we've never done anything like this before. Many people have helped us. Thanks to Allan, for helping remove the old engine, Ray for lifting the engine in, Kenny and Peter, for helping Louise with some electrical connections, and Vince for doing a marvellous job on our rubbing strake as well as helping Louise out when I was away working. My father also gave us a huge amount of help. Personally, though, it is Louise I have to thank the most, for being prepared to have a go at anything. She's always been like that, and really did muck in when I was not around, coming from night shifts, sleeping in the car and getting covered in diesel to get the job done. Louise is available for engine maintenence work around the club now, £35 an hour to members! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Well done guys. Impressive job! Hope Louise and her 'assistant owner' both feel proud of themselves (and safer and more confident at sea). I've read your blog - Still glad I didn't do mine. Even if I'd had the money (the main issue), I'm sure the Centaur's was going to be EVEN MORE hassle. I sold my boat at a huge loss, but it probably wasn't as much as fitting a new engine would have cost along with all the 'extras' Peter
