I think this is a great idea and a great use of current technology. One extra thing that could become a useful resource and be fascinating to look at would be to set up a CYC Picasa account. Then anyone who has pictures taken at the destinations visited, could post them for all to see. If you haven't seen this facility, it enables anyone to click on a destination (e.g. Dale) and then see all the pictures that have been loaded by CYC members. This could be made private for CYC members or public to anyone. As the location of the pictures is based on GPS information, then it is not restricted to named destinations. So those dolphins you saw and photographed off Sully Island could also be entered into the CYC map. Gary I'll look into this, thanks.

Katy has been to:-
Portishead Watchet Newport & Usk Sailing Club (In the Pill up the river Usk where the power lines lurk) Appledore Oxwich Weston-s-Mare (Uphill)
Also anchored in Blue Anchor Bay but not sure if this counts as it wasn't overnight. (it was dark though!)
Plus numerous day sails around the Holms or up/down the channel with no particular destination.

not wanting to be left out. Can you add Cassandra to the list. Its Karen's boat, but since I've been to more places on it than she has ... Cassandra has been to: Newport Portishead x 2 Burnham Watchet Porlock and Lynmouth (if anchoring off for 3/4 hr. counts?) hopefully a few more to follow before the end of the year! Peter

This is a great idea...well done!! Thanks to Peter for making an entry for Cassandra. I'm pleased to record that I have managed 4 trips since buying the boat back in July. It is really very interesting to see what has been going on with other members in the club. Is this accessible to non-members too? as it is a good advert for the club to demonstarte the range of activity happening.....good stuff! k

Fred, I'll add yours soon. Karen. Yes, it is visible to everyone, and I agree, both the map, and the cruising accounts are a great advert for the club.
Cheers.

Katy only appears on the map for Burnham-on-Sea so I'll repeat the destinations from earlier posts.
Portishead Watchet Newport & Usk Sailing Club (In the Pill up the river Usk where the power lines lurk) Appledore Oxwich Weston-s-Mare (Uphill) Bristol
Also anchored in Blue Anchor Bay but not sure if this counts as it wasn't overnight. (it was dark though!)
Plus numerous day sails around the Holms or up/down the channel with no particular destination.

me, to be perfectly honest not very far, I've been out in the channel twice with tony on the coresande, and a few times in the bay, but I work during the week now ,so only weekend sailing now, I will need to ring him to see how he is, as I haven't seen him for ages and I have been out with friends from CBYC a few times yachting in channel during summer

Gem: Rade du Brest Chateaulin (fantastic) Planned to go further South, but on arrival in L'Aberwracht learned my Mum was dying. Moored Gem up river at Port du Plauden. Much safer and far better than L'Aberwracht if you spend more than one night in the estuary. So we didn't get as far as we planned! We "did the 3 Abers" & L'Aberbenoit is by far the best. This was our 4th cruise to Brittany.

Looks like Dave is winning the race for the cup at the moment then! I think Allan might be leaving it a bit late for his mega cruise!

I'm happy to give the cup up. A few weeks ago I thought of trying to make a special trip to add a long trip, I now realise that is not what my sailing is about. Next year I will continue with my love affair with places that can be easily reached from the Bristol Channel. West Wales, further south down the Irish coast, The Scillies and Brittany are as far as I plan. Allan

I think that Vince and Sheila ought to get the cup as they sailed around the World this summer.
