As some of you hopefully know, after the LONG process of planning, applying for grants, applying for more grants, buying and checking equipment, getting people trained up with instructor, first aid and safety boat skills we are now (apart from the final paperwork) an RYA training center.
We have yet to run any formal courses, but in the meanwhile, so I can get some practice in, I'm hoping to do some training on a Wednesday evening (at the same time as the joint racing with CBYC) for whoever wants it. I'm focusing on the basics in the new Toppers, but we can extend that to use the club Enterprises or your boat as well if you'd rather.
Please let me know if you'd like to join us, roughly what sort of ability you have - complete beginners welcome! and what time you think you can get to the club (we need to start by 6 at the latest). We can do more advanced skills as you develop and some basic racing techniques so you can join in with the race series if you want. At the moment I'm trying to accommodate everybody (which is difficult if I get very varied abilities) - we'll just have to see how we get on.
If you're more experienced and would like to help out with demonstrations, safety boat, mark laying, launching / recovery that would be great too!

My son Josh would very much like to have lessons, he's 10 and is keen, but hasn't the strength yet to trim the sails on Camelot, but a topper would be perfect.
I'd be happy to help out with the safety boat or in any other way you'd like. I'm reasonably competent in a dinghy or a powerboat!
The only issue is that I work shift's and can't do every third Wednesday - Angie could probably get Josh to the club, if you had plenty of other helpers.

hello Hugh, Josh is very welcome to join us on Wednesday.
At the moment I've been saying yes to everybody, which may result in too many - in which case we'll have to split up in the future and maybe do an additional night as well. So far, there has always been spare boats and helpers though.
try and be there for about 5.30
see you Wednesday Peter

Thanks Peter and Will for Wednesday. Josh thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for more. He did capsize, but that was probably a good thing as he was nervous about what would happen in the event of a capsize. Now he's done it and seen that it's not too bad he has lost that fear.
Thanks again and see you next week.
