The HASLER PEANUT DINGHY has been specifically designed for children between the ages of 2 and 12, aimed at nothing less than creating a new generation of young sailors who become expert and safe boatman at an earlier age than ever before - while having a great deal of fun in the process. The PEANUT is the ideal boat for use, under supervision, on protected waters or swimming pools. On dry land she stands firmly upright and provides a robust source of imaginative games - as well as a good way to practice rowing! The Peanut dinghy was designed by the late H.G. 'Blondie' Hasler of World War II Cockleshell hero fame and renowned as the originator of the Single-Handed Transatlantic Race. The dinghy is 5 feet long with a beam of 2' 10" and draws approx 4 inches. It weighs 37lbs (17kgs) and can easily be carried on deck, on a roof rack or in the back of an estate car. The double skin provides built-in buoyancy and the hooked gunwhale deflects spray and makes for easy lifting and dragging ashore. The bilge keels-cum-grab handles enable the dinghy to stand firmly on land and to be easily righted if capsized. The fore and aft bench seat means that children of all sizes can learn to trim the boat correctly. Look up the Elephant Boatyard where they are made for more details. The boat is complete with oars and rowlocks and has already taught at least 5 children to row
