Tender storage

I was wondering what if any, are the protocols...or even just "the done thing" as regards storage for tenders....I've kept mine in the same spot as I found it after the club "tender cull" back in 2012. I went out for a sail on Saturday and when I returned there were two plastic crates in "my" spot, one locked to a peg sunk into the ground.

I did manage to squeeze my boat into another place, but was wondering...is it first come first served, or not?
