Last year there was a 50 miler - an honesty race from Cardiff to Ilfracombe. Let me know if there is any interest in it this year. If there is I was tentatively thinking about 6th October although if there are better (warmer) dates that don't clash with other events feel free to suggest them.
The Race is from the Penarth YC ODM mark to the Copperas buoy just before Ilfracombe - The Copperas mark must be left to Starboard. Sully Island must also be left to Starboard.
There is no set start and finish time, so you can pick a time to set off giving the best tidal advantage to your boat. You must however start and finish on the same day.
I have no racing experience re handicaps etc and probably won't be doing this trip myself so if someone would like to volunteer to organise this it would be appreciated.
The winner will receive the 'Tony Burris 50 mile plate' in recognition of the achievement.
