Hello All, I'd really like to gain some experience of crewing on a cruiser, general or racing. I have been out a few times racing and have an idea of what's required but no experience of actually doing much except being ballast. However, I am a quick learner and extremely willing to do anything asked of me, I'm really practical so can come in handy sometimes. I can also make tea and provide home made cake! I have my own gear. It's my intention of undertaking the 'Competent Crew' course this summer (any recommendations welcome) so may be a bit more use soon. In the meantime I'd really like to get to know some more people and help out/learn whilst doing so. I'm flexible with time and happy to jump in at short notice (that may not be a very good phrase considering the setting!) I have a bit more experience of dinghies (RYA lev 1&2) and am in the process of joining the club (hopefully very soon) and will be bringing my dinghy along. Laurie has kindly been taking me out on the bay on Wednesday evenings for a few weeks, so have met a few people already. I can be contacted on 07980272186 or through this forum (obviously) Thanks for reading this. Liz

Hi Lizzi,
I tried ringing but there wasn't an answer. If its any help a couple of us meet up on a Thursday afternoon at 5pm (weather permitting) on pontoon 'C' (the one nearest the bridge) to take a few boats out and get some practice in. No experience necessary although I note that you already have done a bit already. We meet up in the club afterwards for a chat at around 8pm.
Let me Know if your coming and I'll make sure theres a boat for you to go out on and open the gates for you.
Matt

Did someone say cake? Where? What ever it is, I'll do it. This fine tuned machine will run perfectly on cake and beer! Allan

Hi Sheila, Allan & guys I met last Thursday. I had a great time last week, you were all very welcoming AND I was made a new member! So cake is definitely in order, but afraid it won't be this Thursday, (too much on work wise) but definitely week after, I'll bring it to the bar after sailing. Yes it's a bribe so someone will allow me on their boat, I'm not proud. Liz
