To celebrate the opening of the new pub on Flat Holm, the Gull and Leek, we're planning to pay a visit on 16th July. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-east-wales-13741734Sheila has volunteered to ferry us all ashore and stay onboard to watch out for dragging anchors - is there anyone else (preferably with the muscle to adjust anchor scopes) willing to join her? Vince and I did it last time, so would like to go ashore this time. I'm awaiting confirmation from the Flat Holm Society to confirm that the pub will be open, and will report back here when I've had the reply.

I have it on very good authority that the pub is open from 11am till 11pm 7 days a week, well worth a visit but check first, just in case.

I suppose after last time I should volunteer for anchor watching!
Just have to check if I can make that date and have crew and, if so, I'm happy to help out with this (if anyone trusts me).

I had a word with Natalie taylor yesterday, the Flatholm project manager about the possibility of laying visitor mooring bouys at the island and she was quite positive,so watch this space. Chris.

I don't tink Huw is going to be around this weekend after all.
Please post here if you are.
Mike Xanadu has said he would do anchor watch if he is available. I have also said that I would, do the ferrying ashore, but to be honest I am not sure if I am fit enough at the moment (or today at least)
Looking at XC weather this weekend ti looks like it will be a F4-5. Hw 08.39 LW 14.53 1.5 m
Anyone got any thoughts?

Doesn't look like there are many (any?) takers for this.
Met office weather for Saturday as of 07:10 this morning heavy rain and gusting 31mph, with a nasty looking low crossing the country.
I have therefore decided that there is not much point in going.
Another time perhaps?
Mike

It seems that Huw probably will be around after all, but boatless. I agree, the weather does not really look very clement, and I don't think Vince is bothered about going, so maybe we should all get on ferry from Channel View and go over and let someone else "drive" so we can all go and sit in the pub all afternoon!

Weather's not enticing for that trip. I'd be interested for another occasion.

Xc weather forecasts for Saturday WSW 14mph with broken cloud, possible light rain around 13.00. with gusts of 24mph. I am interested in giving it a try. Chausey will not be there today, as I'm still in Yorkshire with my Dad. We will be at the club tonight and tomorrow. Allan
