If I had been more organised, I may have been at the dinner dance and had the chance to make a speech when presented with the Tony Burris distance cup for my trip to Chausey, off the Normandy coast. Had I been there I would have thanked a few people. The first and most important person would have been Edwina, who took the helm most of the way from Clovelly to the Helford river, while I suffered from man flu (I'm sure it was swine flu really!). I would also like to thank Martin and Louise, Vince and Sheila, Huw and Angie and all the people from the club, most of whom seem to be under the, mistaken, impression that I know how to sail. This cup is first thing I have won since the bronze lifesaving badge I won when I was 13, so really does mean a lot to me. Many thanks also to Tony, who has now galvanised me into sailing Chausey even more than the 1900 miles I managed this year. The picture is of the position the cup will occupy for the next year and, hopefully, more years to come. Many thanks to all, Allan PS, I forgot to mention my Mum and Dad! Attachments:

It's a pity you were not there. You would have looked great doing that speech, crying, in your dress.
