We launched our RIB on Friday. We bought her as a bare boat 2 years back, bought the engines separately, built up the transom, cut and rebuilt the console, made and fitted the A frame, rejigged the trailer and fitted three batteries, a new stainless fuel tank and the electronics. 27 knots, and she's not trimmed properly yet. Won't be doing that when diving, of course, but very pleased.

So 'where are you going?'
Am I right in guessing that it's a 5.5m Avon Searider?

Yep. Actually a 5.4m. Ex commercial, heavier duty and more rubbing strake than some. About 30 years old. Twin 40HP Yamahas. Seaworthy and ready to go, well, nearly.
Do you know anyone who might want to go diving on her, Huw.......?

Here's the original. I'll tell you the full story in the bar. Not for forums......

I would certainly be up for a dive - and I have a full set of kit now (except for a bottle - which I intend to hire until I can work out whether I use one enough for it to be worth buying one).

No bread, sadly, although I am going to try another recipe out soon......
Yep, Gelliswick. It was there or Dale last Friday, with big tides again, and Dale is not good with too much East in the wind.
The Rib has been very neglected whilst we've been learning to sail, but I made a commitment that I wanted to laubch her this 'summer' so in she went.
IIRC, RIBs are not allowed in the club, so she won't be seen in Cardiff. No bad thing, I suppose, she leaves a big wake. I may still manage to do a dive or two down West though, so keep in touch, Huw.

Had a bad couple of weeks. Stripped and cleaned the carbs after our fun in Dale. Engines running sweet. Towed the boat to West Wales and I had terrible cavitation. Turns out I had mounted the engines too high.
I spent all last week stripping, cuttin the transon and remounting them. I nearly gave up, it was so much work.
Took her down the club this afternoon. 31.5 knots! Delighted. She could do with a good service now, but at long last I have a working boat.
