May I suggest you first contact the club Harbour master Mr Ken Short ASAP and make an appointment to see him re size of your vessel etc. Or better still come up to club next Saturday and make yourself know to the person behind the Bar who I am sure will give you all the help you need.......... or come to the club to day and ask for one of the club officers.

Hello, Duncan. I take it your vessel is a sailing boat? (Pardon my ignorance). Might I suggest calling down the club after 8pm on a Wednesday night - many of the sailing section meet there and you can have a chat.

The sinbad is a sailing yacht - about 23ft outboard powered and quite a good little sea boat. As Martin says wednesday evenings are your best bet.

Actually the Sinbad is 22ft and mine is inbord powered. They vary from inboard to outboard. The origionals were all inboard. Mine has a Yanmar IGM10. I hope to come one Wednesday soon.
I brought the boat back to Gloucester last saturday from Cromer and have a little work to do to tudy it up!

I visited the club almost 2 weeks ago and discussed membership as suggested with the gentleman behind the bar. I left my address with him so that a membership form could be forwarded. I have yet to recieve anything. Parhaps its lost with the postal situation in Bristol. If so could one be sent via e-mail.

Ref membership
You will not be able to gain moorings at CYC until you have actually been excepted as a member, although you will be able to stay on you vessel overnight as a visitor.
Please accept my applogoies if you have already joined, but we are not accepting any new members vessels until the club has connected up new risers to the trot system.
You will need to contact Kenny Short the club harbour master before any vessel is allowed a berth on our moorings
Regards
Ray

gofa There seems to be some misunderstanding.
I put the original request about joining on 14th Sept when it was suggested that I visit the club one Wednesday evening. This I did and discussed membership with a gentleman behind the bar who was most helpful.
Unfortunately, there were no copies of the membership applications to hand so he undertook to send me a copy. I left my name and address but have not received it.
On a practical side I will not be ready for a month or so to berth the boat as I am refurbishing it. Its coming on well as I have stripped it down to the hull, apart from the engine which is fine. I hope to repaint within the next few weeks, weather permitting, and have the boat ready to cruse in about 6 to 8 weeks.

Duncan,
I spoke with John at the club last night (the barman you spoke to). He read your post and sent out an application form to you yesterday (you may have it today). He was waiting for a new batch of membership forms, and had not forgotten you.
You've clarified the position regarding the mooring, after Gofa's post, so that seems fine now. All that remains is for you to complete the membership form, and perhaps pop down the club one or two evenings/weekends and get the proposer and seconder filled in. If you can make it on a Wednesday night, when the sailing section are normally there, I'm sure that will be straightforward.
Hope that's all ok.

I hope to come to the Club on Saturday during the daytime with membership form. The restoration of the Seal is going well having installed a modern plumbing system and having revarnished the woodwork and well under way repainting the gloss. Is there a paticulary good time during theday given that I have to travel from Gloucester.

The bar opens on Saturdays at midday. Food is served from midday until around 14:30, though the popular choices can start to run out towards the end. The bar staff tend to be quite busy between 12:30 and 14:00 so probably couldn't give you their full attention.
