Just to say thanks to Chris for the huge skate, and to Colin for showing Vince how to skin it, and also for the bass. Can't wait for tea now! Thanks also to Terry (I think it was) for telling us about smoothhound. I had never heard of it before so looked it up on the internet. So now I know there is a Starry Smoothhound and a Common Smoothhound. While looking for this I found this great fishing website & forum www.sea-fishing.org and then spent the best part of an hour reading all the forum chat and learning all the many ways to skin a fish! There's a YouTube video link of how to skin a dogfish - looks like too much hard work for me! There are also some great recipes on there. I expect that those of you fishermen who use computers probably know about this site already though. Anyway, thanks again all. Sheila & Vince

We will have you out with the boys dangling your worm, enjoying yourselve, rockin and a rollin waitin for that rod tip to bounce, then you will relise why we sit out there freezin cold and suppin tea all day. Enjoy your Skate, I'm sure you will be supplied with plenty as the year progresses. As for the Bass, the fishermen from the English side of the Channel refer to them over the radio as the Silver things, they do not want us Welsh boys to invade their waters, Soppy sods!

We actually have got two fishing rods on board. Don't think I can handle a wiggly worm on the end of my line though!

Here we go shevin, this is a Common Smoothound I caught on Sunday 5th April just off Fontygary Caravan Park. Hopefully the 1st of many this Spring! From what you have written, am I to believe that you want to cook one? Couldn't kill one myself, too good looking! The fish that is, not me. This one swam safely away Cheers Mark

He's a big one! But he doesn't look like a very happy fish! Nice to hear though that he is now swimming happily away somewhere (unless someone else has caught him again!) Well, I have been told that they are very tasty, so if any comes my way at any time I shall certainly give it a go. The recipes given in the sea-fishing website forum certainly look tempting! Sheila
