For those who know me in the club It was my intention to sail as far as Portrugal this summer but I have missed the season, Or have I? there are a few sailors on this forum with much more Experience than I, and I would especially welcome advice, comments and links to september or later crossings of Biscay and the Atlantic side of Spain/ Portrugal,

I cartainly wouldn't feel up to offering advise as I've never sailed further south than the Brittany coast. I did however meet a guy last week in Milford who was setting off for northern Spain this weekend. His boat was the ketch version of mine and called Dunkers. Allan

Hi, Bri. I came across Dunkers this weekend. They were setting off today, heading for Spain. There were two of them, and they told me they expected to do it in 5 days. As Allan says, a Westerly 33 Ketch. The skipper has sailed across the Atlantic (Allan tells me in a 24footer!) and criuised extensively in the Caribbean.
If you look at the Atlantic charts, it seems good. The high pressure that I thought would give us a nice week has been pushed down over Biscay, giving light winds.
Clearly I have no experience of doing it, but it at least shows it is being done by sailors from this area in similar sized boats to Blue Bear.

Are you sure chatting with Dave Jones is a good idea Sheila? Isn't he the one with the locker we are all trying to avoid? :-)

Li will have to be Biscay in October, but I have had a little taste of what is to come sailing into Brest.
