Cruise in Company to Porlock - Sat 17th – Sun 18th April 2010 - has been cancelled.
Instead we have organised a dinghy/tender race up the Taff for a picnic - see the other post.
It is the sole and inescapable responsibility of the skipper to decide whether to enter or continue participating in this event, especially with regard to prevailing and forecast weather conditions. Please also ensure your vessel and it’s equipment is in a sound and seaworthy condition and that you and your crew are suitably experienced, properly prepared and clothed for adverse weather as required.

Along with a number of other people, I have a dilemma! Mike from Xanadu has invited Edwina and I to his daughter Rhiannon's birthday party. Is there any chance the date of the Porlock cruise could be changed? The party will also be a celebration of Rhiannon's wonderful contribution to Xanadu's success in the CBYC racing series, despite the efforts of me and other old blokes to drag them down! Allan

Yes Allan, I was speaking to Mike about Vince and yourself last night. He said Xanadu finished first (second after handicap) last week. This was when you were not present though, is that right..........?

Exactly correct. When I sailed Xanadu the crew consisted of Mike, Nathan (a novice) and two frumpy old blokes. I think the dropped scores will be the ones when Rhiannon was not on board. I have no illusions about my ability to race, i.e. I don't have any! I feel I should point out that my avatar is the picture taken just after I overtook you on the way to Porlock last year but of course we were not racing, were we? Allan

Someone about to have his avatar changed!
I'm happy to discuss the date. An off the cuff idea (not looked at tides or contacted flat holm) - how about repeating the Flat Holm tour trip? For those not aware last year around 8 boats from the club anchored off Flat Holm and went ashore for a guided tour of the island. We still get a sail and the party is not ruined - with all the most important guests unavailable. Any other suggestions/comments?

Depending on the weather/tides, if it is nice and warm and sunny, maybe we could organise a picnic (as opposed to bbq) at Jackson's Bay?
