Sorry I didn't make it yesterday; as most of you probably know by now, my youngest, Matthew, broke his leg on Friday and we spent the last 2 nights in hospital.
Looks like you had a great time though - we'll have to do another one next year!

Hi Huw , So sorry to see your young son laid up and you missing the fun at Jackson Bay. I was tied up for the weekend with other duties otherwise would have loved to have joined the trip. Great photos and all looked to have had a very good experience of landing on land and vacating their boats. To date no applications for the "Flipper Club"..................or is there?

We too were so sorry you could not make it Huw. Alan suggested that perhaps in the interests of the health and safety of your family you should not organise any more events - every time you do it someone in your family seems to become disabled (Angie with her shoulder - Newport, Matthew this time - don't want to risk anyone else!) Every one had a great time, and the weather was excellent. We locked out at 11.30 and after a slow and windless start, once we got out by Lavenock Spit we managed to have a nice sail to Jackson's, dropping anchor at 13.20. Andrea was already at anchor, and one by one the other boats arrived. At the beginning there were 8 boats in all, but Plato and Andrea did not stay, choosing instead to have a nice afternoon sail. Vince proceeded to ferry everyone ashore, starting with me and our friends. I think there was some concern that the dinghy looked like it might just sink with our combined weight - but we got ashore safely. Matthew had his inflatable, and helped to ferry people ashore, with the aid of a tow from Vince with the outboard motor. Fortunately, Snacko, there were no applicants for the Flipper Club, although everyone got wet feet in the disembarking from the dinghies. It was lovely to have been joined by boats from Cardiff Bay Yacht Club. The imagination of everyone with their barbecue food was impressive, ranging from home-made burgers, fried onions, kebabs, grilled haloumi cheese adn I think Alan probably beat everyone with his haute cuisine, salmon followed by a wonderful cheesboard! His salmon was rescued by the fact that I had brought a lemon (for our gin and tonics - but then left the gin on board!) but he forgot to bring the bananas for dessert. Next time we will definitely have to plan a menu. Vince thoroughly enjoyed being the ferryman, and we are very grateful to the lady from Star Chaser (I forget her name - Jacky or Sandy?) who kindly gave Vince a bottle of wine for his efforts (I wonder who will get the most benefit from that?) We also thank Paul & Wissitt (Andrea) for the loan of their lovely dinghy - much better suited for purpose than our inflatable. My photos are much the same as Jenny B's but here are a couple together with yet another of my terrible videos. The gaps in narrative are due to my lapses of memory - senior moments! By the way - although boats at anchor and not an anchor ball in sight! Having ferried everyone back to their boats, we finally upped anchor at 17.15 and had a fabulous sail back, locking in at 19.15 to a wonderful sunset. Very tasty looking kebabs! Alan chatting up the girls again!

A great day! Even with the lack of barbynanas, I'm sure everyone really enjoyed it. It was also good to find a couple of people there on the same intellectual level as me! The sail down was not bad but the sail back was excellent. Many thanks to Huw and Vince for all they did and thanks to all that turned up for a really nice day. Allan PS, Huw what have you been teaching your lad? Taking an angle grinder to the Teddy!!!
