Has anyone any ideas for a trip over the forthcoming Easter break?
I think Allan is planning to go to Gloucester with the Portishead Cruising Club, but I've just looked at their site and it is too late now for applications (cut off 20th March).
Huw seems to want to go to Lundy on the last day of the holiday when we should all be returning, not leaving!
So what about the rest of us? After I will have cut mine and Katy's teeth on the Portishead trip this weekend I fancy the idea of a multi-destination jaunt. Perhaps Watchet and doon sooth. Although according to the pilot books marinas seem to get a little scarce for quite a way south of Watchet and Katy has a fin keel, so anchoring or leaning against harbour walls might be called for.
Any suggestions?
Julian.

Don't know what we are doing yet. You could join in the CBYC SWOG/SWIG cruiser racing, destination Swansea 2nd April - see link under Sailing Chat - Race Cruising from CBYC - pay your tenner and get a jacket too!
I have not looked at tides or anything but you could do say Watchet, over to Swansea, then back to Minehead (pick up a buoy) or Porlock (anchor off).

I am hoping to do Lundy during the second week of the kids school holidays. But i may be able to fit in a Watchet or Minehead visit as well.

Also don't forget that there's a club cruise to Porlock on the 17th - 18th April. I'll post more details of that one when i get home. Did the posters last night so i can have them up for the AGM.

Hmm... plenty of food for thought there. I've had a look at the info for the SWOG/SWIG cruiser racing - but what does SWOG or SWIG stand for? They don't mention that! Also they want a class/handicap certificate for the boat which I don't have. How do you get one of these?
It looks as if I could spend the 4 days of the Easter break bouncing back and forward across the channel like a ping pong ball! Perhaps, if I can extend the break, ending up at Minehead or Porlock on the Sunday night to join Huw & Co for Lundy on Monday 5th.
If anyone else is going to be a ping pong ball too let me know and maybe we can get our bats out and have a game!

Oh, nearly forgot. Count me in for Porlock on the 17th/18th too!

SWOG, as I am reliably informed, stands for South Wales Offhsore Group, so presumably SWIG is the SW Inshore Group!
