Great pics Matt and Fred Unfortunately I forgot to bring the camera! Great weekend had by all I think. Our biggest fleet yet, attended by Alana, Camelot, Coracle, Charlie, Chausey, Katy, RedEye, Runagane & Sunbeam, I think that was all of us. We left Portishead on the 08.30 lock out and had a great sail back. Had been expecting some rain, but in fact we had some nice sunshine, and the sea state, considering we had wind over tide, was great. All in all a great weekend.

Yes thanks to all for a great weekend. Along with Coracle's crew we decided to stay in Portishead for the day on Sunday, leaving at 18:30 for a night sail home. We arrived back at the club at 22:30ish.
It great to see such a good turn out, 10 boats in total (Sheila - you forgot Xanadu).
I had some 'fun' with my cruising chute (which I now think might actually be a gennaker!). When the hoist went slightly wrong, and then a little later when the tack line slipped out of the jammer. All good fun though! And definately a little further along the learning curve.
Thanks especially to those who braved the cold to sit outside the pub with us on the Saturday night (we had children, and a dog with us); we had a thoroughly enjoyable night.
On our return journey Ang and Caroline brought us back, whilst I fiddled with the radar (a new toy to me), I was struck by the fact that it took me half an hour of fiddling to 'find' Coracle even though they were less than half a mile behind us, though I could find some of the nav buoys from 6 miles away - worrying, especially considering Coracle has the same radar reflector that many of us rely on.
As we had only the faintest of breezes on the nose (despite F5-7 being forecast), we motored all the way back. To 'spice' the trip up I decided on a night time MOB exercise for the 2 boats - the MOB lived to tell the tale after being successfully collected by both boats.

Nice photos thanks. Very fortunate with the weather and apologies for leaving all those highly tuned Bermudan rigs in our wake leaving Cardiff (something very odd happening on Camelot with what looked like a nylon bedsheet) ! Dennis and I started to panic when we realised we were lead boat and that others might actually be following us so we had another look at the chart quick and started a fruitless search for the Marina call frequency in case we actually arrived first. We shouldn't have worried as the lighter airs and an irrirtatingly large coaster slowed us down off Portishead point and a tack meant we drifted off towards Avonmouth at an alarming rate of knots on the 8/12th. Normal order restored on the way back as we motored home and avoided the Welsh grounds off Newport by a short bowsprit! Good fun and thanks to Huw, and to Anne for the delicious biscuits. Dave
