Thinking about some of the things we did as a club last year I thought that perhaps we should get together fairly soon and come up with some ideas on what we might do for "day trips" this year. Last year I think some of the things we did were fairly short notice, and it would be good to have a bit more notice this year so that perhaps more people could join in. I know that Tony Burris is getting together his list of yotties, and will also have some ideas and plans, and we can get together one night in the club, but I think we should repeat some of our successful events from last year, and maybe make them annual outings.
A couple of the really good ones were the trip to Newport Sailing Club, and the barbecue at Jacksons Bay. We could earmark some provisional dates for these, either side of "high summer" when lots of boats might be away in order that more people might be able to join us. I do suggest though that we check the yachting calendar this year for other events at the same time (don't really want to do a repeat of anchoring on the Barry YC finishing line in Jackson's Bay when they are doing their Brains race thing again!).
Last year Vince and I went to Portishead Club event, which was good - a lovely club, and also to Lydney as you probably saw from previous posts. Those might be good to do for some who would want to tackle the Severn and or a bit of the Avon for the first time.
So what do you think Huw and others?
