Does anyone have the ICC qualification in the Club I wish to Gain this qualification and would appreciate any advise on this topic especially where or how to gain it.

Hi Brian. I believe its equivalent to RYA Day skipper and if you have taken that or higher within the last couple of years the RYA will issue certificate for a fee (unless you are a member in which case I think it may be free). Best to look on RYA website because I cant remember where I got this info - might have dreamed it! Cheers, John

clarinettist is correct - there are two ways to gain an IIC - one is to use an existing qualification as evidence of competence, the following are the minimum acceptable:-
Day skipper (sail) or above for Sail (which also gives you power under 10 meters) Powerboat level 2 or above for power under 10 meters Dayskipper (power) or above for power up to 24 meters or 80 gross tonnes
The second way is to do a one day competency test. The examiner will come out with you for the day, you will have to plan and carry out a simple passage in daylight demonstrating your competence through the day. It is often cheapest to get a group together and do it together sharing the examiners fee.
I am qualified to examine for power but unfortunately not sail - yet!
