Great, is Colin trying to assist if we don't have enough wind?
I believe yachts 'Sunbeam', 'Katy' and 'Arietta' maybe joining us too.

As we were chatting in the bar tonight, we all considered that it would be a better idea to sail to Jacksons Bay and then back again and then have the BBQ back at the Club. Bearing in mind the time of the tide (HW 11.52) how about changing to a Plan B, go to Uphill for lunch time, have a sandwich, stay on the pontoon for up to an hour, then come back and have a BBQ back at the Club? Suggest lock out 9.00 or 10.00 and I do know that the girls do take aways sometimes, so if you are here early enough you could get your take away curry. PS Peter told me to post this!

I understand a few of you had a chat in the bar last night about the trip tomorrow. Looking at the forecast for tomorrow it shows easterlies for most of the day making Jackson Bay probably a bit rolly if we anchor and try to dinghy ashore.
I agree that the most sensible option would be to sail to Uphill in the morning. Stay for an hour for a bite to eat and then come back to the club for the BBQ in the afternoon. The wind direction and tide would favour this destination under the circumstances.
I suggest a lock out at around 9.30am.
I hope that's okay with everyone. I'm disappointed that we couldn't do the Jackson Bay trip this year as I always enjoy it. There's always next year!

As per my earlier post, don't think we will be able to make it as the boat is coming out of the water. Jackson Bay could still be feasible later on in to October, we have had some wonderful weather in the autumn in past years!

We had a good trip yesterday with lovely sunny weather lasting all day and light to medium winds which were perfect for sailing. We locked out at 9.30 and got to Uphill about 10 minutes before HW and had lunch in the cockpit and a short walk along the beach.
We set off back for Cardiff at about 1pm and had a nice sail back and finished the evening off by enjoying BBQ food and wine outside at the club. Boats that did the trip were:
Ocean Factor Katy High Spirits Poppea Vancouver 27 (not sure of the name but skippered by Andy)

The Vancouver 27 is Shearwater. Very unusual for Andrew to be turning left outside of the lock! Glad you al had a great time.
