Looks like my darling wife is going to finish work on time . . . then we can join in - downside I've got to organize dinner - that will be . . . a bag of crisps and maybe . . . an apple! ! ! See you on the pond. Russell

A few boats out last night from the club although as the wind was so light not much sailing was done, just drifting. It was a nice night for sitting out on the club varanda with a cold larger though:
Arietta - Keith & myself Sunbeam - Joff and Rob Annie - Russell & other half (he cheated by tying up to Mermaid Quay!) Popea - Lyndon (also cheated as never left the pontoon although was first back!) Artful Dodger - Neville & Liz
I'm away next week but trust the usual suspects will be down.

Matt has been in touch with me about this sailing night, and it sounds right up my street to get to grips with sailing. As I've pointed out already, I'm a complete novice, but I've aquired a 22' boat on which I'm ready and willing to learn, so if anyone can help out by sailing her with me I'll be very grateful. I can be contacted on 01685871416, or curlya1@talktalk.net, or mobile 07859902466.
Hopefully this lousy weather will end soon and we can get down to some serious business.

It appears that this Thursday evening sailing will not be quite as well attended as usual, either by boats or by people, as some of the most regular, ie. Matt, Keith (Arietta) and Joff (Sunbeam) are down on the south coast bringing Matt's new boat a little closer to home.
Of course, this is not to say that nothing is happening - anyone with a boat going out?

hope the mob practice went well? did you manage to pick Rob op? - shame! lol. Ocean Factor had a leisurely evening sail across falmouth bay to the Helford river, trying desperately to keep the speed below 3 knots - good for fishing - caught a makerel each for dinner:) G&Ts and apperatiefs have been had ....

I had a sail down memory lane tonight. I joined Keith on his Etap. It just confirmed all my memories. A great sail on a great boat. Once the rig is sorted there will be few boats able to stay with it! Allan

Four boats, Sunbeam, Dove, Popea and Areita locked out on the 6pm lock after we decided to ditch MOB training and go for a quick trip around Flatholm (It was quick for some of us).
All who participated had a great time. Allan crewed for me on Areita and along with developing my sailing skills also imparted a lot of knowledge about the channel, my yacht and life in general, to which I am most grateful.
Where else could you get sailing, training, a trip round Flatholm, meet such a good bunch of people, and all on a school night.
Roll on next Thursday

Also out and about was Coresande and of course Sui, in the bay. Sui stayed in the bay, as I needed to repair some parts of the sail rig, and introducing a mate to sailing a real rig (that is, a fully-battened Chinese lug sail, for the pointy-sail peeps ) Planned for outside but my visitor was delayed, so I missed Allan's dance of the Veils, erm, Waves ;D BTW, Sui is turning right for five weeks as soon as there's some East in the wind (probably Weds) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D . Possibly drop into Dale, defo for Waterford, after which 'wherever the wind takes me' wah ha ha ha! I think I'm in good humour - let the fun begin!

Didn't think we would be out in the channel last night but really enjoyed it. Yay for these late light nights.

Good weather forecast for tomorrow so hopefully will get the MOB drills done in the sunshine. As Joff is doing a talk at 8pm I don't think it would be a good idea to go out in the channel as last week we had to wait until the dredger 'Sospan-Du' to do its thing and exit the outer harbour before getting back into cyc at 10pm. The others didn't get back until about 9.30pm either. Just think of it as a learning night. MOB practice and finding out about fishing . Matt
