Last year a few of us started meeting up on a Thursday night, take a couple of boats out and just have a sail around the bay or Penarth for a few hours until it gets dark.
Me and Keith on Arietta (Etap 23i) are meeting at 5pm tonight on pontoon 'C' to start the ball rolling if anyone wants to join us (whether they have a boat or not - crew welcome, no experience necessary).

Were meeting up again this Thursday (26th May) if anyone is interested. Might see you there then Rob.
2 boats came out last Thursday and we had good fun racing each other between Mermaid Quay and the barrage as the wind was on the beam.

Last Thurday we had a couple of yachties having a good race around the bay:
Arrietta: Keith, myself, Lyndon, Joff Xanadu: Mike Colvic-Tony & Rob
Anyone who feels like coming down and crewing (no experience necessary) is welcome. Also if anyone has a boat and doesn't feel experienced enough to go out on their own and want people to go out on theirs, or just want practice on other boats which have a 'different feel' then come on down (weather permitting!).
PM me if anyone wants any info.

Yesterday evenings sail was very relaxed with very little wind but beautiful sunshine so lots of soaking up the rays. There were 3 boats from our club out:
Popea - Peter, Damian, me Xanadu - Mike, Rhiannon, Keith Pipin 20 - Unknown from pontoon B
Afterwards we sat outside for drinks and it didn't really get cold. Lets hope the weather for next Thursday will be just as good although a little more wind!

Last night was good with 4 boats from the club out for a thrash around the bay. The wind was quite gusty at first but then maintained a constant average for the last 30 minutes of our sail. Arrietta and Sunbeam were leaning over good and proper in the gusts while Popea, being much heavier shrugged it off. I was really impressed by Lyndon who only took up sailing proper recently took Popea out single handed in quite a bit of wind! Well done Lyndon . Popea - Lyndon (singlehanded) Arrietta - Keith, Dean, Rob Sunbeam - Joff, me, Paul, Liz (new member) Cassandra - Karen and Rob Matt

Cheers Rob although I'm not sure whether we will have time to go out to the Channel on Thursday due to time locking in/out. I'll be a little late coming down too, probably 5.30. I think Joff and Paul are possibly the same due to work commitments. Perhaps we can all have a chat about it when we get together on Thursday, what the weather is like and what the skippers want to do. It would be nice to get into the Channel instead of the usual triangle course around the bay though I agree :-)
