Given the number of people getting lost on the way to Watchet this year, I was wondering whether anyone could post up some directions......
Some of the worst offenders are listed below:
Sui and Shearwater. Both ended up in Ireland, some 190 miles away from Watchet.
Chausey, Bright Flyer and Volition, last seen looking for Watchet Marina in Northern France, missing the town by some 280 miles.
Ishtar (Change at Neyland for Chelone). A staggering blunder of Navigation, ending at Barbados, over 4000 miles from Watchet.
None, can compare though to the hapless crew of the 33ft Moody, Blue Bear, missing for over two years and believed to have missed Watchet by over 22,000 miles, or around 10% of the distance to the moon.
We really do need some decent Navigation training in the club, if we are to avoid this sort of thing, and get more boats to Watchet next year.
;D
Seriously. Congrats to all who have made long trips this year, helping to spread publicity for our club all over.
Merry Christmas!!

I did eventually manage to find Watchet, it is still in the same place it has always been. After arriving with Tamarind we went for a walk and a beer. When we got back to the marina I thought the gate had failed! A third of the marina surface was mud. When we left it took Banjo half an hour to get out of the berth he was using. I understand it is better now due to the new dredger they have bought. Allan
