Bristol - Saturday 18/08/12 to Sunday 19/08/12
The plan is to lock out about 13.30 and take trip up the channel to the lovely city of Bristol.
This is a good cruise for novices who want do do a short trip as well as the more experienced who may wish to take part in the 'Avon Challenge' which involves trying to 'sail' not motor up the Avon to the Clifton Suspension bridge. Due to the narrow width of the river and shallow depth at the sides this is more difficult than you may think! The river Avon is lovely to travel along and Bristol is of course buzzing with life.

Hi everyone,
I just want to get an idea how many people will be coming on this trip which is scheduled this weekend coming. I have had a lot of interest and queries but if people can let me know (weather permitting of course) that would be appreciated. This would assist in finding out if any boats need crew or if crew need a boat. In addition if there are any novice sailors with boats we can accomodate them and pair them up with others who can stay with them.
I am going on Ocean Factor and have crew for the journey but thanks for the offer Rob.

Chausey will be there. Looks like the wind may be dropping towards the end of the week.

Edit, I've just looked at a couple of wind sites and it looks like light winds from the south, great for the river that heads nearly south!

Your welcome to tag along with us if you like. We plan to meet at the club about 12 then lock out around 1pm. I don't know if anyone else wants to lock out at the same time too but that would be good.

Good trip this weekend with lovely weather but little wind except for a foggy squall that crossed our path Sunday morning. Highlights included a disco boat with a naked man dancing on top and a trip to the Cabot Cruising club. Boats that went included:

Lucky Duck

Moontide

The title of this thread is wrong! I'm still in Bristol, waiting in the Cumberland basin for high water. Luckily the super yacht Rena is here too, so I can wait for freeflow with them. I'm wondering whether to invite the owner over for bacon rolls.
