Vince and Allan said they'd help Dave Brown bring his new boat back from Hythe, Southampton, and just look who said he'd like to give it a go and join them! Chrissy looking very comfortable in the cockpit. Dave very pleased with his new acquisition. I have every admiration for Chrissy, as I know that he was not too impressed with sailing last time he tried it with Dave Williams on Caswyn in the Bay. Chrissy went down to Hythe with Dave on Saturday, and they spent the day provisioning the boat. Vince and Allan joined them on Sunday morning, got themselves settled in and sorted out the rigging before they set sail (or motor - wind was on the nose and quite strong) later in the afternoon.

As you can imagine, being Southampton there is quite a lot of large shipping around. I am told that they had a difficult night trip, with many teething problems, lots of water in the boat from a leaking water tank, and losing their navigation lights altogether. They managed to call in to Brixham, where they were able to effect repairs and get the lights working, and set out again for another night passage. Vince phoned me this morning around 7.30 am to say they had had another pretty rough trip and are expecting to make Falmouth around mid day today, where they intend to wait out the expected strong winds. Chrissy left them at Brixham as he had to get back home, but how great it is to see our fishermen joining the yotties!

One great thing about this boat, being a motor cruiser, is that you can steer from inside as well as from outside, although a bit difficult from inside if the sails are up.

That was before we set off Matt. We are now in Falmouth waiting for the force 7 off the Lizard to stop. Probably off tomorrow, heading for Newlyn. Allan
