Martin (Bright Flyer) came up with an idea in the bar recently. A decent length single handed race. As it is just an idea at present, it would be nice to hear any ideas of who may be interested in entering and what they would like the format to be. My personal preference would be two legs, out to a destination, stop and rest/party then restart and head back to Cardiff. It would be good to get another club involved as the destination. As most people who know me would expect I would like it to be two long legs, maybe Cardiff-Dale, Dale-Cardiff. Before we put any suggestions to the club committee it would be nice to hear any views and suggestions. Allan

I'd be up for something like that - though I really like Dale, so it would be a shame to come straight back!

Well a possibility could be Cardiff-Dale one weekend and Dale-Cardiff the next. Then families etc. could join us and have a break in west Wales for a week. Car sharing could keep the costs down. Another question is, do we make it an open race or just a club race? Please feel free to add any questions and/or suggestions on here. I'm thinking this is for next year so we have loads of time to get things right. Another suggestion 3 or 4 shorter races over Easter. Allan

The week stay could well work.
I think it would be great to make it an open race - perhaps limited to yachts under 36'.
Personally I'd prefer to keep Easter as a long weekend cruise, so the family can be together - basically I wouldn't get away with a single-handed Easter!

Another thought - based on increasing the participation (bearing in mind that only 5 boats entered the 50 miler) - we could have a race with a cup for the fastest crewed yacht and one for the fastest single-hander. Or possibly just add a singlehanded cup for the existing 50 miler.

How about a dual race, Saturday single handed, Sunday crewed. Both up or down the channel and back. Open start times. We could have a do in the club. That should mean more money over the bar three nights which would please the committee. Allan
