Well we finally managed to set off at 06.30 Wednesday 20th. A beat down to Ilfracombe then Thursday another hard trip down to Padstow. Stayed 2 nights there Vince had to sort out the engine mountings. Then down to St. Ives where we spent an uncomfortable night at anchor befote setting off at 04.00 in the fog Vince on the bow with a powerful torch watching for pot buoys. Once round Lands End the weather had improved and we decided to head on to Falmouth. With all the fog over the last few days there has been no wind so a lot of motoring. Finally as we headed up to Falmouth ee got a good sail but then decided to go up the Helford River where we spent two lovely nights on a visitors buoy. Sunday we went ashore and had a fabulous walk and met up with some other Moody owners to whom we passed on the MOA 30th Anniversary Relay baton that we were delivering. Later we visited Helford River Sailing Club. The view from CYC is not a patch on the view from there. From Helford we went on to Salcombe where we spent awonderful evening at anchor in Frogmore Creek. Definitely go there again! Heading off for Weymouth decided the timing was wrong for Portland Bill so went in to Brixham where we were able to have lovely showers and do some washing and stock up on food. Currently on a visitors buoy belonging to Swanage Sailing Club. Didn't get over to the club last night as problems with the dinghy outboard so Vince is trying to find out what is wrong while the wind id blowing 22 knots. Will post some pictures when I find out how to do it from my phone!

Hi Sheila and Vince, Glad to hear you are enjoying your trip.I expect that the water colour and quality are a bit better than the Bay. Look forward to the pics, if you can sort them out. Best wishes, Brian(Simplee Red)

Hi Both, That sounds like a good plan - looking at the South Westerley winds that they have forcast - for where you are . Hopefully by Wednesday the weather will be back to some sort on " Normal" and you will be able to carry on. Looks like it may start warming up as well, who knows - Summer might be here Keep safe Steve D

Hope your weather continues to improve. I remember Christchurch from my childhood! I expect we went on a steam train! We're having a rest day in La Trinitè sur mer. Allan

Had a few very nice days here at Christchurch Sailing Club. Went to the little Regent Centre in Christchurch last night to watch Far From the Madding Crowd. Super film, and great to get out of the noise of the wind - maybe we should have watched Gone with the Wind!! Last night on the pontoon was terrible. The wind was incredible, I thought we were just going to sail away. Leaving tomorrow between 0900 and 10.00 (you can only get in and out of here at more or less the top of the tide - we were on really high water last night with 2.2m showing on our depth gauge!Heading off for the Newtown River on IOW before proceeding on to Chichester Harbour. Bring on the sun please......!!!! Still need to have a bit more time free to put some photos on here.

Haven't had brilliant weather. Left Christchurch for Newtown River IOW where we anchored for the night. Not free as owned by National Trust so they demand a fee. Got to Chichester Harbour the following day Thursday on a buoy at Itchenor Reach. Met up with school friends for dinner that night. Great reunion. Next day back to my childhood playground walking around the edgr of Chichester Harbour to Bosham and later towards West Wittering. Many happy memories. Our departure from Chichester in the forecast F5 ended up being a F6-7 with big sea so we went to Gosport marina. Lovely, managed to get the washing done and later some provisions in.

Writing from Royal Western Yacht Club Plymouth. Lovely place, lovely welcome from the commodore and not at all posh as I though it might be. If you are interested I'll post more. Got some nice photos of our travels. Dan, the spinnaker was great today.
Hope you all had a good regatta.
Cheers Sheila
