Chris Price set off in Pirani (Gib Sea 28) this morning enroute to Belgium where he is currently living. The plan was simple. Lock out at 6:00am this morning and get to Dunkirk in 5 days time without stopping. They are currently off Ilfracombe motoring into wind and and plan to go around Land's End at about midnight. You can follow their progress at skipr.net/where-is/boat-pages/?boatid=2098. So far so good. I hope all the planets line up for the next 5 days.

I'm hoping they have gone around Lands End by now. The Skipr system needs an update from a mobile phone with internet access so I am guessing that they don't have a good enough signal.

It looks like the wind should be off their nose by now. Once around Lands End, hopefully, the wind should be behind them. The trip along the channel looks like it will be much more pleasant with the weather improving after tomorrow. They should get a phone signal at Lands End or the Lizard. I would suggest they may need a diesel stop at some point. Allan

I received a very brief text yesterday evening to say they had just safely gone around Land's End at about 8pm (Monday) and that they were in heavy seas, had been making poor progress and were unable to get into Padstow or anywhere else.
Should be a different trip from now on although the heads was blocked.
I will post more news when I get it. The Skipr update hasn't been updated since Lundy and I expect keeping that updated has been pretty low on their priorities.

They made a refuelling stop in Newlyn and the engine ran out of diesel just as they tied up. The engine was on full for a lot of the journey straight into wind and for about 12 hours they were doing about 1Knt over ground. Some slight damage to boat - had to cut jib sheets after some foredeck drama.
Plan is to stock up on pasties, fresh milk and diesel and then broad reach ASAP over to Cherbourg. Heads is still not working so it's bucket time until Belgium.

Arrived.
"Arrived Blankenberge, Belgium at 0530 this morning. Feeling a bit ordinary but nothing a shower, food and warmth won't cure. 532 nautical miles, 102 hours, 6 nights and 6 days with one stop. "
