On Thursday the 12/6/14 myself and Allen of Lady Kay decided to give it a try down aberthaw great run down flat sea 32 knots with 1/3 of throttle left we were flying we left the locks at 9.15am and had anchor down & bait in the water at stout 9.50, Battersea dog's home opened and we had dog's and dog's and more dogs just could not get the bait passed them, Then we had a few congers a few nice doubles I manged to get a nice spotted ray tide slackened so we moved out to another mark, As soon as the bait hit the water Allen was into smooth hound then he had a stary smooth hound then we both were into the hounds the tide changed and the hounds continued to feed we stayed until the tide was too fast and our weight couldn't hold bottom then decided it was time to make a move back, We were going to stop at sully but the wind picked up so it would be a bit lumpy so we came around onto mid Cardiff area, The dogs started again but we were just enjoying the sunshine I pulled my rod in to rebait cast out fresh bait and the rod just doubled over it took 40 mins to bring it in because it was a 24lb blond ray using the full run of the tide we laugh now because that last fish made us miss 2 locks, What a great day.
