We had hoped to leave today but it looks a little too boisterous out there so we have decided to leave tomorrow. Knowing we are here for another night will make police friends happy! If all goes well the tracker should be on in the morning and running until we get to the next port. If all is good, that will be Las Palmas in the Canaries. Allan

omg allan, can't believe you got into trouble for entering the port, in my opinion you weren't at fault as you didn't know the port was shut. It's silly sometimes hope your trip is going well

Had a message from Edwina on Wednesday, they had changed course and were heading for East of the Canaries. Checking the blog trip thingy and it looks like they have about 200 miles to go, or the length of the bit from the end of the rubber on my pencil to the pencil itself!

Just sent allan a lovely forecast. NE trades of 10-15 knots. Heard from them yesterday. Loving it. They tried calling Blue Bear for 2 days on the radio, on the off chance of a chat, but heard nothing. It was a long shot. Allan thinks they will be late for his birthday when they get to St Maartens.

Sailing along at 5 knots under chute and main this morning. Winds 12-15 knots Easterlies, constant. Allan is unsure of his navigation! His GPS says 289 for St Maartens, his chart says 270.

Surely there's a difference of about 1000 miles between my post and yours Martin?

I suspect Martin is referring to the bearing

The last update shows them about 30 miles away from St Maarten - and that was at 11pm last night. I can#t confirm yet, but I think they may have arrived.

Well, where do I start? From Las Palmas, we left 23rd March into a good wind on the stern and choppy seas which, as an expert, I explained to John that they would settle as we lost the affects of the island. Well I was almost right, 3 days later the seas improved a little! We headed south west looking for the trade winds, when we got down to 20degs N we started to head more west and sort of found the winds but they were sporadic. We had a couple of days of calms and used most of our extra fuel. Then with 6-700miles to go the winds filled in and we had a great sail arriving early morning and anchoring off to wait for the bridge which blocks the entrance to the lagoon to open. Since arriving here we have been making sure there is not too much beer for such a small island. I'm sitting typing this in Sint Maarten yacht, imagine CYC with sun! We are off tomorrow probably heading for the Turks and Caicos islands before heading for fort Lauderdale. Allan

Change of plan! We had a bracket break on the radar reflector during the night so headed for the British Virgin Islands. I went up the mast earlier and we are now having a beer and lunch. Off again tomorrow, may go straight to Fort Lauderdale, we will decide on the way. Good luck to everyone in the Lundy race. Allan
