I#m always being asked to create some video diaries showing off my culinary expertise so this week, I did it. The first one is breadmaking, aboard Ishtar

I'm thinking of making a DVD, so you can pick your choice of ending: Ending 1: Ending 2:

Rob Brydon looks a little different these days? Still exactly the same accent, and still slightly mentally unstable though.

On a serious note for delicious bread made under the grill (or on a hot plate for boats like mine without a grill) try mixing natural yoghurt and self raising flour to make a dough. Roll it flatish (a wine bottle makes for a good rolling pin!!). Rub some olive oil over the top and put under the grill for about 2 minutes till it browns, then turn, rub olive oil on the other side and give another 2 mins under the grill. Job done.
I like to add black olives and rosemary to the mix, and when eating dip it in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. superb to accompany a spag bol.
Can't give quantities - I just add extra yoghurt if it's dry or extra flour if it's wet.

I did have a giggle making it. I knew I should have rolled it flatter - it might have worked then. I will give your recipe a try.
Actually, I think RB is from Louise's neck of the woods, Port Talbot, but I can't remember. The more I recorded, the worse I got. It was difficult to keep a straight face.

Excellent Martin - I laughed and laughed ;D I believe the trick is to put the risen dough in a smaller pan inside a big one, and to do it somehow so that the smaller one doesn't touch the bottom of the big one - no idea how you achieve that - over to you... oh and you need a tight fitting lid on the big pan ...or is that for a bomb?? Started watching the first one not intending to watch them all but found myself pressing the mouse over Martin's face frequently. Strangely addictive. Can't wait for the next one. Perhaps we have found the Welsh Jamie Oliver (or is it Delia Smith?).

Matt, I don't think there will be any more. Louise doesn't seem to want to let me spend any more time on my own on the boat. She has insisted that she comes with me. She is concerned for my mental state when I'm alone in deserted bays in West Wales in the rain. She also claims that me talking to myself has traumatised Tigger.
Actually I did make potato cakes, which were not bad. It would be a triple box set dvd though, they took that long to knead without a mixer........
